A year ago I used to run a monthly roundup of NAV blogs and give you a short gist of who said what. Then I got lazy and stopped blogging on the weekly basis, and boy what a mistake I did – because some nice new blogs appeared in the meantime. I am somewhat ashamed that I learned about this blog only recently, but there is a gem out there you shouldn’t miss: Van Vugt’s dynamiXs.
I wasn’t sure at first if it was an April Fools’ day prank, but earlier this evening I’ve got an e-mail from Microsoft congratulating me on my MVP Award. Not that it just fell from the sky—I had been contacted by the nomination team and I knew it might be coming. But still, it’s April the 1st, and the E-mail was sitting in my Junk E-Mail folder, and I was *THIS* close to releasing my finger from the left mouse button over the Empty “Junk E-Mail” Folder option, when I just noticed in a flash the subject of one of the messages. Uh-uh! That ain’t no junk. Phew!
After successful Decisions NAV 2009 and Decisions AX 2009 virtual conferences, MSDynamicsWorld.com has went for it once again, this time expanding the conference to cover full range of Microsoft Dynamics products, and merging it into a single event.
Houston Neal from Software Advice recently wrote a nice and a very detailed article on the Differences Between Microsoft Dynamics products. It’s an interesting article and gives a good overview of where different Microsoft Dynamics products stand, and overall I recommend you to read it, even though personally I don’t agree with everything in there.
I like good argument, but I don’t like disagreeing just for the sake of it, and this was one of those articles that I would prefer disagreeing in private. But Houston was so persistent in me expressing my opinion on his article here on my blog, that I just decided to speak up.
After all, everyone is entitled to my opinion 😉
Did you have a chance to attend the NAV Decisions 2009 virtual conference? If yes, how did you like the event? To me, this was a great experience. It wasn’t the first virtual conference I was a part of, but it most certainly was the best.
But if you didn’t have a chance or time to be there (virtually), you don’t have to worry. Even though the conference is over, the website and all the content will be available for three more months. So, until midnight of January 15, 2010, you can still visit the conference website, register and watch and listen to any of the presentations delivered.

When implementing NAV in manufacturing companies, I’ve sometimes heard complaints that the type of manufacturing supported in NAV doesn’t fit the customer needs.
And sometimes that’s completely true. NAV supports discreet manufacturing, and it handles it pretty well. But the things do get bumpy when you venture into process manufacturing world.
Sometimes customers or even consultants don’t really understand why this happens. It’s simple: there is a big difference between process and discreet manufacturing, and to successfully implement NAV in these two fundamentally different environments you need to understand and appreciate these differences.
