Microsoft Dynamics for Manufacturing – differences between various Dynamics flavors

image Houston Neal from Software Advice recently wrote a nice and a very detailed article on the Differences Between Microsoft Dynamics products. It’s an interesting article and gives a good overview of where different Microsoft Dynamics products stand, and overall I recommend you to read it, even though personally I don’t agree with everything in there.

I like good argument, but I don’t like disagreeing just for the sake of it, and this was one of those articles that I would prefer disagreeing in private. But Houston was so persistent in me expressing my opinion on his article here on my blog, that I just decided to speak up.

After all, everyone is entitled to my opinion 😉

ERP and Business Processes: a new book

imageThere is a new book available about ERP business practices. It is titled “ERP and business processes” and is written by Hans van der Hoeven, MSc, a senior lecturer in ERP, Business Management and Accounting at Avans University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.

The book is targeted primarily at business and management students and managers running ERP projects, and explains what ERP business processes are about, rather than focusing on technical issues or specific products.

NAV blogosphere in April

April. There is definitely something upside down with this month. I’ve started it with a somewhat ambitious decision to blog a post a day. And it worked. Kind of. For the first eight days, anyway.

And then it happened. Suddenly I’ve found myself blogging only occasionally, practically chasing my promise to deliver a blog post twice a week. And boy did it feel like delivery, every single time. At first I thought it was about me, but it seems it wasn’t. All of NAV blogosphere was dormant in April.

What did NAV bloggers say in February?

image Microsoft Dynamics NAV blogosphere wasn’t particularly active in February. Trust me, I don’t blame anyone for it. February is a slow month.

Economy is down, forests are burning in Australia, planes are crashing in Netherlands. Whatever the reason, NAV bloggers weren’t as active in February, as they were in January.

What did NAV bloggers blog in January?

When I started blogging just short of two years ago, there weren’t too many NAV blogs. I don’t bother to go do the count, but I figure there was no more than ten of them. Then it exploded: today, there are about forty.

Keeping track of forty RSS feeds has become a complete nightmare for me, so I decided I’d keep a monthly digest of the most valuable blog posts in the NAV blogosphere, as a reference I can refer back to, later on. If you find it useful as well, even better.

Not very-well-known NAV blogs

When I started blogging about Microsoft Dynamics NAV back in 2007 it was because there were not too many blogs on the topic at the time. There were a few notable ones, and that was it. If you wanted to track them all, it was a piece of a cake.

Today, there are hundreds of blogs, more or less frequently updated, sharing a lot of insight, opinions, tips, tricks and stuff. There is no way to keep an eye on a lot of them, and many of them are probably slipping under your radar.
