All good things come to an end, and that’s exactly what seems to have happened with Convergence EMEA, the key Microsoft Dynamics conference in Europe. The news has hit hard with me; I’ve only attended it once, and now that it was to come so close to my hometown, it’s been cancelled.
As stated on official Convergence 2009 Vienna site, Microsoft has decided to change the approach to Convergence in EMEA, and instead of having a single conference for whole EMEA, Microsoft will organize a series of local events in selected EMEA markets.
The official site doesn’t provide much information about why this has been decided, apart from “customer and partner feedback”.
However, MSDynamicsWorld.com seems to have got more info somehow, and reports further details in their yesterday’s Microsoft Cancels Next Dynamics European Convergence Event “To Save Customers Money” head article.
I decided not to offer my opinion on this decision, so I end this short newsflash by quoting Douglas Adams: So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Well Vjeko, at least it was nice seeing you last year here in Copenhagen and enjoying in Irish Pub – but for sure Convergence EMEA will be missed by many. However, as I’ve read – Microsoft plans to go on with number of smaller, market – tailored events throughout EMEA region… But still, I can see your point.
@Vibor: yes, the beer was good, the steak only half so. Actually, in my post there was no point, it was just a redelivery of news. I dislike the fact that there is no Convergence EMEA any more, and I know that it will be replaced by smaller market-tailored events, but yet… Somehow, “saving customer’s money” doesn’t seem to be the right reason – if customers want to save money, they’ll save it, with or without Convergence. If they want to spend it, and there is no Convergence to spend it on, they’ll spend it on something else. Anyway, Convergence or not, there is a lot of beer and many steaks awaiting, let’s do the first round in Opatija!
It’s a deal Vjeko! See you in Opatija!
